At least Style happened after the Oscars.

I don't know about you but this year's Oscar fashions looked more like a wedding convention than red carpet Hollywood glamour. I couldn't figure out who was the bride and who were her bridesmaid's. Usual style stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman sadly didn't deliver. Making matters worse, designer John Galliano for Frida Pinto, Prade for Jessica Beil and Rodarte for Reese Witherspoon created dresses much more suited for the runway than the red carpet.

If you read my blog regularly you know I love to write about Marisa Tomei. This cute, sassy, sexy actress 9 times out of 10 rules the red carpet. If Versace had created Marisa's stunning Oscar dress in old Hollywood red or this season's icy grey, Marisa would have won best-dressed all evening long. These days an award as coveted as the golden statue.

The evening thankfully wasn't a total bust. Marisa a devotee of Indy designers chose to wear after the Oscars, CFDA nominee and my good friend Juan Carlos Obando. Thanks JC for giving me ONE dress I could get REALLY happy about. The nude palette paired with strong color blocking and slight asymetrical shoulder were fresh, innovative and the RIGHT dress for Marisa's tiny frame.

Style Tip-When hiring a stylist or trusting your best friend, don't be afraid to double check their opinion. If you're having professional pictures or video taken on a very important evening, Shoot both film and video beforehand. What is right for camera may not be right for film.

JUST because you are Angelina Jolie.......

Arguably Angelina Jolie is the most beautiful women in the world. But that doesn't mean she wears clothing well. Angelina looks visibly uncomfortable each and every red carpet event. Last night's Critic's choice awards was no exception. Angie has on this season's one arm trend by Chloe, but one thing Chloe can't do for Angelina is give Angelina the WANT to WEAR that dress attitude. UNLIKE Marisa Tomei who is shouting serious glamour. Marisa Tomei nominated for the Wrestler hasn't been on the award circuit for a bit, but she is getting my vote again with this stunning knock em dead red carpet look. Marisa is the approachable, cute but shamelessly sexy actor that you want to love, while Anglina Jolie is stunning but not approachable at all.Approachability in your character is important, and if you know how to wear clothing like Marisa does with her confidence, she becomes even more stunning than Angelina.

Style tip-Are you the girl that is always told she is cute? If you know how to dress your body and work what you have, you can pull ahead of the most beautiful women in your own group. Getting dressed is 2 parts thinking you CAN and 2 parts CHOICE.

And the Style winner at the People's Choice is.........

Marisa Tomei is F-L-A-W-L-E-S-S in Donna Karan. The best part is you can see that Marisa knows it? Look at her red carpet ready stance? Look at the way that fantastic red strapless dress fits her body? Do you see the imbalance-balance in the skirt portion of the dress. The eye goes right from her tiny waist to the uneven corner of the hem length, but the strapless corset portion is clean and elegant. Marisa no stranger to the edgier side of style brilliantly pairs chunky nude shoes just like I like em. Fleshtone and blush on the color wheel have notes of red which compliment that beautiful red dress.. The earrings and the statement necklace show off Marisa's beautiful clavicle bone and the wickeresque evening bag is GENIUS! This look is one to study and create for your self. Marisa is brilliantly using The Donna Karan strapless as her canvas and her accessories are all playing the same tune while not being "on the nose" If I were to nit pick in any way it would be Marisa's hair, it could have been perhaps a beautiful side part, low ponytail or a piecy chignon, otherwise you are looking at total red carpet perfection.

Style tip- When getting dressed for yourself, look to the celebs that you admire. Take advantage of the glam squads they employ to steal their style for yourself.

Double style tip- Confidence pushes your outfit over the edge. Learn what are your best angles when taking photos for your own red carpet moments.
